Taiwan as a whole is a very beautiful country with awesome food, people, geography and night life! I have been to Taiwan several times in the past two years alone and I’ve to say that this island-state has attracted me so much that I will probably move there in the coming years to settle down.
Knowing my passion for Taiwan, friends will always come to me for help to plan their free-and-easy itinerary before they travel; especially when it comes to where to go for good food and awesome night life! After much encouragement to start writing about Taiwan’s night life on my blog, I thought to myself, why not?
I’VE THUS DECIDED TO BLOG ABOUT TAIWAN CLUBBING ON A WEEKLY BASIS. STAY TUNED!
The truth: Taiwan is not as messy as what they say on TV or what your mom tells you. Even the gangsters are quite friendly (I’ve met with and even went out to dinner with a few that I met at one of the clubs), as long as you don’t get into a fight with them. Golden rule, always remain friendly and nothing will happen to you.
Yes, I know that many of you will have heard of LUXY, but I will not be talking about it in this first entry. The club that I will like to introduce this week is Club Lava of Taipei.
This place is equivalent to Zouk’s Phuture / Butter-Factory here, with crowd ranging from barely 18 years old to 30 years old; with some occasional exception of older men. The music they spin here is mostly RnB by DJ Daniel. I have spoke to him a few times personally, but he often refuses to take photo with me!
Yes, he comes to party at ZoukOut too! By the way, drinks here is free flow! Read the bottom to get more details! =)
I know all of you are waiting for this to see how it is like in the Club… I’ve added this video to let you see what I meant by Taiwan night life is Awesome! ![]()

What is interesting about Lava is that they usually have shows, sometimes by hired models first to get everyone high, then they will invite girls and guys on the dance-floor to participate.
Participation from the dance floor generally comes in two-flavor:
- Girls Only: Girls who take part will dance on the stage to compete who has the best dance. The winner will get between NT 1000 and NT 5000 (depending on the sponsor for the night). In most cases, the last two standing will end up in just bikini top when they battle it out for the top spot, it’s not uncommon to see them going topless (but with their boobs covered with their hands of course). Nose bleed already? haha!
- Girls & Guys: Couples who take part will have to dance as a couple passionately to win, and the prize money is similar to that of the Girls only one. There are cases where the girls and guys end up topless, BUT, not in Lava; will introduce that club and show you a video on that in a later post. Do note that the couples might not even know each other, where the girls will be asked to go up the stage first, then the DJ will pick a guy for each of them from the dance-floor.

Enough said, I know you really want to go there, but first, let’s take a look at this club’s happenings and themes for the different days of the week. They are opened from Wednesday (ladies night) to Sunday night, but do note that Sunday night is not gay/lesbian night.
Moving on in the future, I will be posting the monthly happenings posters with some updated videos and pictures when I get my hands on them (from clubbing friends in Taiwan).

Now the question is HOW THE HELL DO I GET THERE?

*UPDATED*
As I’ve been getting a lot of emails asking very similar questions, I’ve decided to strictly take questions strictly only from the comments section of this post, so that everyone can benefit from it. ^_^
It’s been almost six month since I last left IDA and I’m back again this time – for a three weeks assignment. There’s been quite some changes, with a new colleague, some people left, and many people are clearing their leaves during this time of the year.

Lucky me, the moment I’m back, it’s someone’s birthday and I’ve cake to eat! This choc-cake from Bakerzin is really smooth!!!

All of us gathered at our beautiful pantry to celebrate Faith’s birthday, with us includes Senior Director Andew in pink. He’s so nice and approachable. Every-time when I return back, I always feel at home, with all these nice colleagues and seniors.

Faith – the birthday girl

As Christmas is approaching, some of us decided to go to Vivo for lunch. Joyce (our head chef) brought us to this place at basement foodcourt that serves Taiwanese food. Although the food quality cannot be compared to those I savor each time I return to Taiwan, but it is still quite nice. Yummy!! I miss taiwan!

The selection of Taiwan street food offered here…

Yummmy… Porkchop rice..
Fake one lah. But it looks soo real right?
They should have one of these on the Gym tracks – just like how you put a cheese to get a mice to run on the mill. haha…

And.. this bowl of fake noodles. -_-

We ordered a table full of food to share and we all thought the chicken was the best! hehe… I’d be back!

Introducing Stanley… He’s a very very nice senior who is kind, hardworking and very smart, never hesitant to guide me when I’m lost.

Went back that night to a bowl of traditional Tang Yuan. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen these traditional rice balls. But they were yummy!
After wrapping all the Christmas presents, Laisha (my new colleague) and I discovered that we still needed to buy stuff to give to our other colleagues, we headed to Vivo for lunch. After shopping for about 15 minutes and didn’t manage to find anything, we “gave up” temporarily and decided to head for lunch! ![]()

We settled for “Dian Xiao Er” and got a seat with this nice awesome view of the sea, that was blocked by this BIG BIG SHIP! I will get one one someday, when I get a girl-friend for a romantic getaway. ![]()

Good ole-white plates. I somehow enjoy taking pictures of the plate display each time I visit a restaurant. Weird ~

This is Lai Sha! Cute? Keep your comments comings at the bottom of the post! ![]()
It is such a small world; in her previous job, we were somehow involved in the same project, but from different perspective: she was from the provider end and I was from the customer end, but we never met. But… We had someone to “talk” about… hahaha…

My favorite sambal fried rice. Yummy!!!

Lai sha ordered this melon soup which smelled very nice….

See.. Laisha is so nice, scooping soup for me… ![]()

Wah.. She gave me so much liao (aka Ingredients)

My favorite “Do Po Rou”, a must have every time I visit Dian Xiao Er…

Awww… Look at that? How can one resist? Yah. This is pork, and I don’t think it’s halal.

Laisha’s must have. I am having this for the first time and it is kinda nice!
After the meal, we continued our shopping and I managed to get a gift for Tuesday’s gift-exchange! yay! Follow the post on Tuesday to find out what it is!
We’re going to this Jap place for Christmas dinner and some Sake!
After sleeping my entire sunday away, I’m proud to announce that I’m back and kick-in after being missing in actions for the past 18 days. Although my job was quite stress-free, but the fact that I’ve multiple commitments (teaching, preparing proposal for project tenders, preparing project proposals, helping friend edit their website, playing aunt agony, and the list goes on), made my past weeks especially tiring.

My original plan to go back to Taiwan (I’m Singaporean, but I love Taiwan so much that I always joked with friends that I’m a Taiwanese born and bred in Singapore -_-) was interrupted by work commitments this december; probably I will visit Taiwan in April next year instead. But guess what!!! Many of my friends are visiting Taiwan this december, and Xue Ling got me this bigger sized Rabbit Pig stuffed toy, than the one I had hanging on my bag. Ain’t she sweeeeeet? ![]()

For the past 5 years that I’ve been doing corporate training (yes, although I can be a little “himbo” sometimes, but I do have brains ok! haha), I’ve to say my students in December 2011 were the sweetest!!! This lovely box of Ferrero is from JiaHui, a very lovely and hardworking and passionate girl from my final class for the year.

Introducing my hairstylist - Kai Ting, the Director of Jeric Salon Ion. As some of you might already know, I’m quite particular about my hair; and I’ve to say that I’m really fortunate to be offered a hair sponsorship by Jeric Salon for the past 12+ months. What I liked about Jeric Salon (yes, I used to be a paying customer at Jeric Salon for 3+ years before I was offered the hair sponsorship) is the good service and the easy to maintain, yet stylist cuts. I will begin writing more about the hair culture in my coming posts.. STAY TUNED!!!

My hair color until Saturday, very korean pop kind of color. I am kind of bored of this color and since the roots are darkening, I decided it’s time to get a new color

My new awesome hair color (it’s blue-ish ash) recommended by Kai. To get this color, first the hair needs to be bleached at various intensities at different parts of the hair, and the dye was applied to only the top and bottom layer, so that the middle layer is still gold, creating an awesome color contrast.

My bad that I went by the Salon too late thus we only ended at about 9.30. We (Kai and I) originally wanted to go to this really famous Ramen place, but by the time we reached there, it closed. In the end, we settled for this pretty nice japanese place (Tamo something. Can’t really remember the name of the place) at Clark Quay after doing my hair.

My little fish + garlic + plum rice & miso soup. Although the portion is not too big, but it is really tasty. I don’t mind eating this on a daily basis. Inexpensive, and healthy.

Kai’s curry udon. I think it was too spicy for him. Can tell that he didn’t really like it, but he still finished it up, not wanting to waste food.

A very special mushroom salad with half-boiled egg. This is my favorite dish for the night.

Unagi Eel with special rice-cake. It tastes really good when you just put the whole thing in your mouth. Awww…

What is a Japanese meal without Chawamushi? hahaha… Somehow I thought the taste is very similar to that of Sushi Tei. I still prefer the one at Itacho-Sushi.

Just Joking… Why so serious… ![]()
Taking five minutes off work to write this quick blog entry… ![]()
As many of you will have already known, I’m a huge fan of Taiwan, largely because of the people, foods, weather, fashion, shopping and… the list just goes on… They should seriously hire me to work in Taiwan Tourism Board.
Went to church this evening (yay! I may go to heaven
) after doing some work at SMU, and headed to Raffles City to get dinner and facial wipes.
I was surprised to chance by this outlet outside Gardian: Xiao Bar Wang. It has a really interesting stall concept and the aroma of Taiwanese fried chicken was the push factor that really attracted me. Haha…

The sets are quite affordable. Mee Sua + Tea at $4, while Chicken + Tea at $4.10.

This spoon goes up and down. I was astonished at first, but after taking a closer look, the mechanism is actually hidden behind the mee..

This is how it looks like… It really tastes like Ah Zhong Mee Sua of Taiwan…

Until you think I have a good life, zoom out, I’m rushing some assignments… ![]()

Okayy…. Back to work….

I’ve been running the lifestyle website ZhenFunXing for sometime and one of the most popular posts I noticed recently was one about a Taiwanese celebrity, Amber An (安心亞), thus deciding to share this here. ![]()

Ain’t she just cute and hot?

She is the No.1 idol in the hearts of Taiwanese House Men (仔男)
Awww… She’ just so adorable…

安心亞 in one of the meet-the-fans sessions… When is she coming to Singapore?
Lucky bustard! ![]()

The hotter side of 安心亞

ok.. That’s all…. Don’t nose bleed….
Ok… One final treat…
If you really want to stalk her: http://www.wretch.cc/blog/xinyatw
Riz Low is probably one of the better known condom teachers in Singapore, teaching you how to use a condom for safe fun. (And of course her other infamous stuff too…)
But I prefer this version produced by our Taiwanese friends across the straits. Enjoy.. ![]()
