If you have not been to the stretch along Orchid Hotel, you have definitely missed out on the plethora of good food that magically populated the area in the recent months. One of these, is the Two Blur Guys Burger Bistro (TBG).
Opened since 6th of June, ‘Two Blur Guys’ (TBG) offers a menu of six different signature burgers ranging from Prime Beef, Grilled Chicken to Portobello Burgers. Set up as a New York concept café in the bustling CBD, ‘Two Blur Guys’ offers mouth-watering burger recipes designed by renowned Chef Jimmy Chok.
Besides its array of burgers, coffee, beer and pastries are also available. However the pastries vary from day to day depending on it’s availability.
Long Black/ Americano
Timmermanns Strawberry Lambic
Vedett Extra White
Lemond Curd Tart
During this invited food tasting, we will be getting our hands on two of their hottest selling burgers – Prime Beef Burger & Pulled Pork Burger, and… hopefully… uncover the secrets behind them. *grins*
Prime Beef Burger ($12.50)
An infusion of prime-beef patty topped off with Gruyere cheese, sweet relish and truffle mayo sauce, the Prime Beef burger is all set to send you on a gastronomic adventure!
One trait of the burgers here at “Two Blur Boys” is, it’s juiciness. Although fork and knife will be provided, I always recommend eating burgers by hand for that true blue burger-eating experience!
Look at the colors of the beef burger patty – it’s well done on the outside while being still medium-rare on the inside, preserving the juiciness within, giving a really good bite to the burger. Infused with the masterfully prepared sauces and garnishes, the burger spots a tangy taste, which further tickles the taste-buds, sending you yearning for more! I highly recommend this burger to readers out there who has a love for juicy burgers.
Pulled Pork Burger ($11.50)
Using pork-jaw-meat, and braised with it’s secret formulae for over 2 hours, the pork is not only flavorful, but also juicy and tender to bite. When this burger is ordered, the pork will first be pan-fried (tepanyaki style) before being compressed, placed onto TBG’s homemade burger bread, topped with Gruyere cheese & mustard mayo sauce, before it is served to guests.
As the meat on the pulled-pork burger is less compact than that of the Beef Burger, it is alot more juicy (and overflowing juicy). So be warned when you consume it, and get ready to standby lots of tissue papers!
When I tried the pork on its own, it tastes a little like those from the Korean BBQ hot-plates that we get in premium korean restaurants.
Tiramisu is one of the seasonal items at two blur boys and I rate it slightly above average, but in the category of being “normal cafe quality”. My review on this might be a little more stringent as my mom is a pastry Chef herself, and I grew up eating cakes from all over the place.
The Tiramisu is well layered with it’s Cheese based cream and sponge cake with coffee “soaked” onto it. The coffee used was mild, and thus makes the cake suitable for even individuals who does fancy coffee too much, and this is also what I like about it. I like it like this as I still get to taste the lemony-peppered-cheeze instead of just coffee.
“Two Blur Guys” is definitely a very nice chill-out spot with friends, especially on a weekday afternoons if you just want to find a nice and quiet place in town to read a book over a cuppa coffee. As we left the place at around 6pm on a Friday, the crowd began pouring in despite the heavy shower earlier.
The burger here is definitely a MUST-TRY and something to die for and my personal favorite was the Beef Burger. Definitely looking forward to come back to try the Portobello Mushroom burger and Lamingtons (which is supposedly a very popular desert among Australians).
