Smart perfume container by Travalo

I’ve been wanting to buy something like this – mini perfume container that allows me easy transfer of perfume to it – for a very very long time.. And I finally found it at Gardian by chance yesterday!! ^_^

After working and staying with many people, there’s definitely something that you will not be able to tolerate, and my tolerance on bad smelling people is really really low. I hate being around smelly people… Yes… I feel disgusted!

After a really long week, and exams coming up soon, I decided to unwind one last time before I get into mugging mode. And…. There was this Chinese NS boy who is really needs a shower badly.. Like seriously… Why can’t people keep themselves clean? *disgusted*

I don’t complain much (yeah right), but when i do put it into writing, I’m really good at it! Haha!!!

On a brighter note, a really cute, sweet and BRAVE girl (lets call her cutie pie) approached me with a pickup line. I mean like that’s damn common in Taiwan, but in Singapore, it’s seriously first time. (there was once last year, but the girl was drunk, so not counted)

Legend: Guys represented by bees, and Ladies represented by flowers.

Ok. This was what happened.. There’s these two cute girls (represented by stars) who were near me (represented by smiley) at about 2am and stood near the DJ area. I was busy tweeting (ya I know… Damn loser right… Tweeting in club… Dafaq) , then I exchanged glance with cutie pie’s friends when I looked up. For some reason, she took my hand and cutie pie’s shoulder, and we both damn paiseh. So… I just smile smile and continue to tweet and smile to my phone… The next time I looked up, I was surrounded by guys. Hahaaha… Dafaq… So gay. -_-

Then ten minutes later, she suddenly in front of me… ALONE… Her friend went to dance with bf, pangsei her… And seeing her alone, I just smile smile with her… But she just stood there. So being a complete idiot, I thought she can’t find her friend. So I pointed to her friend and told her, her friend there. Then she ignore me. (・ω・)ノ

Then I thought… Zzzz… So dao… Then I no chap, continue doing my own stuff (not twittering… Don’t laugh at me lah). Few seconds later, she asked me “can you dance with me? My friend dancing with her boyfriend“…

you must be thinking dafaq.. So heng! I didn’t do anything lah. I don’t dance with girls other than my own gf. (don’t say I April fool u or extinct. A lot of people already tried that on twitter). But seriously, I don’t see a point Lah! This is why:

twitter-convo

Ok… Guys… And you know why girls all around me? Because I respected them and kept my hands to myself.

Ok… Back to fragrance… (oh my.. Sound like some gaylang hotel chain… Nebermind) I am currently using DKNY, Daviddoff, Burberry, CK-One Summer & Hugo Boss. I really love the CK-One Summer one, but it’s limited edition and no more in production, so seldom use. (ゝ。∂)

And… I just replenished my stock of Sticky Candy…

Priest lah! Although I might be belly beenbo.. But I perfectly straight lah… Straighter than da ruler! I just have a soft spot for cute things.

The Night Before Architecture Analysis Presentation

March 27, 2012  |  My Life  |  Share

Dean Steve Miller is always so proud of SIS students, and after doing the course of Architecture Analysis, I finally understand this sense of achievement. This course is indeed a great test of team work, co-ordination, determination, ability to find answers to real problems, and produce a solution that is workable. Pardon me for any poor taste of language… After all, it’s 5.27am. But I’m still quite excited and wide awake.

This is one of only two group-study-rooms (GSR) in SMU with air-conditioned switched on after 12 mid-night.

Our own personal air-con unit! Nice!!!

Look at how talented we are? This is the drawing of one of our team-mates which we are waiting for the system to perform automated load-testing… We work hard, but SMART too!

Seldom that you still see these wires around these days yeah!

whoops! the girls having a game of uno while waiting. after all its their last semester… The feeling of working with final year students sometime sucks because their topic of discussion is always so fun… “GRADUATION TRIP!” Urhhh! My time will come soon! ONE MORE YEAR!

My mid-night supper from the vending machines at LKCSB.

Look at the fresh ingredients in there!!!! Mama-mia~

ooooooozzZZzzoooooo

See what I made for the Girls!!! ^_^
All so shyy…..

Spooky dark!

OMG!!! What did Jessie see in there???

It takes a special breed to be a SIS student… We can work hard, till the wee hours, and still have lots of fun!

Conclusion: We are obsessively enjoying what we are doing!

March 24, 2012  |  My Life, My Thoughts, Romance  |  Share

Dear readers, if you have followed me on Twitter (@darrensim), you would have noticed that I’ve been tweeting a lot about relationship and BGR. It not that I’m in a relationship…

Some of my followers on Twitter have asked me to do a post on Romantic SMSes that guys should send… And here’s my first attempt. Let me know if you like it! =)

Loving you could take my life, but when I look into your eyes, I know you’re worth that sacrifice!

A day without your love is a day without life. I can’t wait for the evening to come so that I can give you a big hug!

If I die and go to heaven, I’ll put your name on a golden star. So that all the angels can see, how much you mean to me.

A girl asked a guy, do you want me? He said no. She asked, would you cry if I left? He said no. She asked do you like me? He said no, so she turned round and started to walk away but he grabbed her arm and said, I don’t want you I need you, I wouldn’t cry if you left I’d die, and I don’t like you, I love you, now and forever more.

So many questions, but the answers are so few, all i really know, is, I MISS YOU !

couple_ypgnm-4

It may sound simple, nothing unique or original… but yet it means so much and take courage to say. I wanna tell you ‘I Miss You Alot!’

Farewell to Grandpa

March 20, 2012  |  My Life  |  Share

VIEWERS’ DISCRETION ADVISED BEFORE READING THIS POST
This post contains images of a crematorium that may cause discomfort for the slightly more superstitious readers.

Sorry for being M.I.A from Facebook/Twitter/Email/Blogging for over a week. My grandpa passed away last Monday morning, thus I was busy helping out with many of the funeral stuff. If you’ve sent me an email and I’ve not replied, it’s because I’ve not got to it yet. Have tones of emails to reply by this week. URH!

My grandpa is a really awesome man who is so loving to all of us, and devoted to god; even at his last moments his last words were “may god bless you”.  CryCryCry Ok. I’m not going to go too much into it, not wanting to get all of you in tears.

It’s been years since I lose a love one; nothing to be proud of. But what I wanted to say is that the “customs” have changed so much since. I recalled many years ago, the crematorium (place where they burn the dead-body) at Mount Vernon was so old and humble. And the custom used to be that we have to wear this mourning thing for some time (like 100 days or something).

The new crematorium has shifted to Mandai (so far away… ok.. not that i take pride staying close to one) and looks so commercial now. For a moment, I thought I have stepped into a convention center or something. With the new custom, kids/grand-kids/etc will pin the mourning cloth to a flower and put it on the coffin of the deceased during the funeral (last day).

This is how the new “last-moments” area looks like…

Ok, on the side, many of the things that I have bought started arriving during the past week too. This is my new awesome Ferrara chair. If you’re interested in one, you can buy it from BoConcept at 112 Katong or Park Mall.

Finally my iPhone4 has gave me enough headache warranting me to change to a new one. This is my new iPhone 4S with the new princely casing…

IMG_4079-2

I had not had a meal with my cousins for a long time and I am glad to have done so last Sunday at Boon Tong Kee after attending a mass and prayer session for my grand-father.

I’m back to blogging & twitting as you would have noticed and if you’re still waiting for my email reply.. Be patient ya… I’d get to it soon. If it’s urgent, please re-send it to me or drop me an SMS

The Week of Blogger Meet-ups and Nice Food

March 8, 2012  |  Events, Exclusive, Food Adventures, Jeric Salon, My Life  |  Share
UPDATE: Just a quick update, I’m no longer doing PR/Biz Development for Jeric Salon, as of April 28, 2012. Will be transitioning to a Jeric Salon sponsored blogger instead. Do keep a look out on my latest happenings via my latest posts.

Last week was break week in SMU, but a really busy week for me at Jeric Salon. If you missed my previous post; I’m helping Jeric in the PR & Business Development areas. Spent the entire week at Ion Orchard trying to understand the business better and also meet-up with bloggers whom we’ve invited for a chat for potential hair sponsorship.

They include DJ Misty, Honey Lim and the famous Naomi Neo.

One major achievement: I’ve learn how to wash hair and do head-massage. Lucky whoever is my future wife.

IMG_4067.JPG

We hosted DJ Misty at Ion Orchard last friday where the director Kai Ting personally attend to Misty. Jeric also gracefully joined in for a photoshot.

IMG_4070.JPG

On tuesday (March 6… My birthday!!!), Honey Lim dropped by our Bugis Outlet and enjoyed a suite of treatment directly from Bugis Director Michelle and her assistant.

Oh my… So fast and it’s thursday (today!)… Oh my! Can I have like 72 hours a day… Like seriously, I think I spend too much time on Twitterverse lately. I have 4K+ followers! YAY!!!

This is not my girlfriend. Don’t get mistaken arh! Although very pretty…
I was just showing-off to her all the cool photo apps I have on my iPhone, and instantly took a photo of her and edited it. haha..

On the recommendation of Arthur, we had lunch at this Sushi place (Sushi Express) at Citylink Mall where everything was $1.50, with 1 free cheesecake per head.

Wooo… Look at those cakes swirling past???

Self-service green tea.. Looks a bit cheepo compared to the ones I had at Itacho. But it actually taste okay.. Not that bad as it seems. haha…

The tap to get hot-water. I wish I have one of this in my room too… Den I can cook like… instant noodles anytime I want!

Each of these Sushi is just $1.50! They didn’t pay me to blog ok!

Even the damn Wasabi and Ginger is on the conveyor. WTF! I was chasing this two things like an idiot lah! Whoops… *unglam*

Hur hur! Dont know why this plate got light.. haha.. that aunty keep looking at me take photo and siam me! But… catch-cha!

White-bait Sushi… Looks pretty don’t you think?

Don’t recommend the egg sushi though. Taste like the egg at QiJi more than the jap type. Try at own risk.

Arthur ordered this special smoked salmon.. Hahaha…
It was not a lunch date with Wan Ting… Just in case you were thinking something else.

The aunty roasting the Salmon in front of us, and so graciously giving me such a good angle for this shot!

Oh my… This is like the best thing… Seriously!
TIP for Readers: If you don’t ask for this, you don’t get it!

Looks like Macha ice-cream right? Nah! This is Macha Mua-ji. I don’t recommend the desert here as it sits on the conveyor too long and is no longer cold.

HAPPY FRIDAYS!!!!!

After the busy weekend, I am so glad that the weekend is actually here; something I’ve been waiting for, since Monday. Not that I didn’t like school and assignments, I really didn’t like sleeping only 2 hours a day despite undergoing a root-canal treatment.

Starting the weekend with my last personal training session at FitnessFirst @Paragon is a really way to transition to weekend mode. My arms are still hurting badly… But if that’s what it takes to get the “rain” body, I’d do it. Skeptics, just you watch! Just in case you don’t know who is Rain, here’s a picture. ^_^

Met up with Jeric on Saturday to nail down some details for the upcoming promotions (look out for these promotion on our Facebook page), after which, Jeric graciously invited me to dinner with his wife and guest stylist Eiji Nakamura of Tokyo’s Salon Pele. After being stuccoed in a jam long Orchard for almost 30 minutes, we finally ended up at MBS, greeted with a simple meal of Japanese cuisine and some beer.

I thought our dinner conversation was damn funny.. Guess what… It’s about Japanese fruits… I really miss eating the square water-melon and champaign grapes from Japan… Didn’t really take any photos of dinner since it’s a private dinner gathering.

Okay.. I’ve kind of set my blog direction for this year, it’s going to be about Hair, Facial, Fashion, and how to be a good boyfriend. Don’t know how I’m going to write about how to be a good boyfriend anyways… But I’d try, and you let me know what you think by then. haha..

Busy busy busy week 7 at SMU

February 21, 2012  |  My Life  |  Share

This is one of my craziest weeks at SMU.. There’s a presentation, assignment or mid-term due everyday (and some day two!), all the way till friday. Talking about “Squeeze you dry”, they really take it a step further here… If you want a life, please don’t come here. Go somewhere else, like NUS or smith.

My tooth had been giving some problems lately, hurting like crazy to the extend that it’s causing me a headache, leaving me with no choice, but to get it fixed despite the busy schedule. I swear from today on, I will polish my teeth everyday till it sparkles… Once I get my dental health back in order, I shall consider doing some teeth bleaching treatment to make it white and pretty. Colgate, you need teeth model?

One of my goals this year is to slim down and get back the four-pack I used to have years ago when I was more active. Well, but it’s not too late to get back into shape, just as it’s not too late to start anything. I have recently rejoined the Fitness First gym (that’s the view from the gym…) again and they offered me their highest end membership-card Platinum First-Club. Since, I’ve been hitting the club twice a week. Hoping to eventually get the “RAIN” body.

Loosing weight is definitely more than just exercise, watching one’s diet or visiting a weight-loss spa. It’s a lifestyle that you have to adapt to.

My personal trainer shared with me the concept of the CPF of food selection, which I thought was brilliant.

C: Choice – What you eat is important when coming to weight control.
P: Portion – How much you eat at each meal will also affect your diet plan
F: Frequency – We should ideally eat small meals, 6 a day.

That’s all for now; just a snippet of what I’ve learnt. Will share more about this in an upcoming post dedicated to this. Stay Tuned!

I’ve been a lot more active in twitter and Facebook status updates lately, tweeting about love inspirations, leading to many friends to think that I’m attached. Hahah… NO, I’M STILL SINGLE… But seriously, i don’t regret a single bit of single-hood, although I really like to get attached soon, since I’m no longer that young anymore.

My friends have been telling me that I’m Single not because no one wants me, but because my bar is set too high. But seriously I won’t give in to lowering the bar, because I don’t enter a relationship for fun. If I don’t see myself potentially living happily ever after with the girl, I won’t want to waste each others’ time. Just my thoughts.

By the way, I don’t really go for looks, but if you want me to point out how my dream girl should look like, here’s it. Yes, I just discovered it this morning on the way to SMU, watching this korean music video.

Dinner with Blur-blur Candace Tan

January 1, 2012  |  Gossips, My Life, Parties  |  Share

Friday was a short day at work with a post-christmas ‘cum’ pre-new year lunch at work for our division, with our Senior Director and CEO joining in the games too. Party Party Party  It was very nice knowing many new colleagues from other departments, as I would otherwise have little interaction with them.

Went to Jeric Salon @ Ion to re-setyle my hair after work before meeting with Candace for a catch-up which was supposed to happen at the beginning of december. Candace looked even thinner than before..Shock

Wanted to go to Menya Shinchan Japanese Noodle Restaurant for dinner (the second time in december) only to find out that this time round, it has closed down. We settled for this Mexican place along Clark Quay instead.

We had Fried Jalapenos with Cheese for the starters… Caught Candace in this shot by surprise.

She requested I retake one with her posing properly. I still thinking the natural one is prettier.

Awww… Look at that Cheese…
Looks are really deceiving….
The last time I had this at East Coast, it was smaller and less-spicy. The ones here is simply too spicy; Candace and I gave up trying after braving two pieces.

my burrito chicken topped with Melted Cheese

Candace’s dinner. Can’t remember what it is called.. Candace, if you are reading this, please post in comments…

The mexican meal was really filling, and after 1+ hour, we still can’t seem to finnish the entire meal.
We went for coffee after dinner at this HK place at Liang court after that. Have to say that the food is quite dissapointing, but credits to them for the brilliant location picking skills and bright furnishing which led me in.

I decided to club alone that night, thus went to Zirca after sending Candace to the cab.
When I looked at this (China Dolly) from across the road, I thought there was police checks, only to see the “full house” sign when I walked closer.
Don’t know why this place is always so popular;shall go there the next time to have a look…

Zirca all prepared for New Year’s Eve party the next day…

As usual, NS boys always stand-out with their beanies and botak-heads… Seems that the NSFs who come to ZIRCA are more polite than those who always end up picking fights at Zouk.

Ang-mo dancers whom I think were paid to dance that night to lead the crowd to a high that night…

Surprising I stayed all the way till 4.30am…
I’ve been clubbing for so long that even when I club alone, I will somehow bump into friends… -_-
I’ve to say that the music for the night was really great!!!

Oh my.. I still haven’t post photos from last tuesday’s awesome dinner.. Keep a lookout!

Marry (Merry) Christmas 2011

December 26, 2011  |  Celebrations, My Life  |  Share

Christmas has evolved from celebrating the birth of Christ (yes I’m still religious) to being something very commercial where retailers exhaust all means to squeeze that extra dollar out of consumers.

No surprises, I’m a victim too, and Christmas shopping for me is always last minute. Went down to Orchard before reunion dinner to search for presents for family members;  and until today, I still am short of 3 more presents.  Thinking

Thank god I don’t plan my life like how I plan present buying; else I’d be so screwed.

While shopping along orchard, I saw this very cute tri-shaw outside Takashimaya.
Look at the backdrop… See that long queue… It’s Abercrombie and Fitch… Free men inside? Hypnotized

Our Seat at Paradise Inn

Somehow my mom loves this Paradise Inn place and she chose this place for Christmas Dinner; and since I had member-card. We got the same table as the last time, with very nice view.

Menu

Finally I got a shot of the Menu. I have to say that they spend quite a lot of effort in the deco; making it look classy.

Tea

Various flower tea, but didn’t get any this time round since I’m going to get Gong-Cha later anyways.

Soup Menu

No, that’s not our soup, but this looks really yummy. Shall try it the next time!

Home Made Peanuts

Home made peanuts as usual. I like the one here because it’s very soft and tasty.

Seats

This restaurant is a soup place, and they will always place a “soup spoon” at each table.

Wall Feature

I really love this wall feature. I want this in my future home!!

Light

Ambient light which felt like fusion oriental.

Couple

Ok. I was bored, because the food took some time to come, and I decided to test my “tou pai” (secret photography) skills on this couple sitting at the bench below.

Soup Fuel

Soup Bowl

Pork with Chinese Yam Soup

Pork with Chinese Yam Soup

Pig Brain Lookalike 1

At first I thought this was pig brains… Doesn’t it look like???

Pig Brain Lookalike 2

After asking the staff, I’m pleased that it is not.
It’s actually some clam.. Phew! I don’t eat disgusting things like pig organs… Sick

Prawn Rolls

Prawn Rolls Close Up

Eggyolk Prawns

Prawn Paste Chicken

Hotplate Toufu

Christmas has always been a good time for me to reconnect with friends and this Christmas alone, I sent over 500 SMSes to all the contacts; past and present, people I like and don’t.

Somehow the SMS I borrowed from some internet site spelled Merry Christmas as “Marry Christmas” and three of my observant friends actually corrected me, with one asking if I would “marry her” (you know who you are). Of course I knew she was joking…  Blush

I’m happy to share that I will be meeting a couple of my long lost friends in the coming year!! Seems like I will not be having dinner at home till end of January mom!

Back at my old post at IDA temporarily for 3 Weeks

December 24, 2011  |  My Life  |  Share

It’s been almost six month since I last left IDA and I’m back again this time – for a three weeks assignment. There’s been quite some changes, with a new colleague, some people left, and many people are clearing their leaves during this time of the year.

Lucky me, the moment I’m back, it’s someone’s birthday and I’ve cake to eat! This choc-cake from Bakerzin is really smooth!!!

All of us gathered at our beautiful pantry to celebrate Faith’s birthday, with us includes Senior Director Andew in pink. He’s so  nice and approachable. Every-time when I return back, I always feel at home, with all these nice colleagues and seniors.

Faith – the birthday girl

As Christmas is approaching, some of us decided to go to Vivo for lunch. Joyce (our head chef) brought us to this place at basement foodcourt that serves Taiwanese food. Although the food quality cannot be compared to those I savor each time I return to Taiwan, but it is still quite nice. Yummy!! I miss taiwan!

The selection of Taiwan street food offered here…

Yummmy… Porkchop rice..
Fake one lah. But it looks soo real right?
They should have one of these on the Gym tracks – just like how you put a cheese to get a mice to run on the mill. haha…

And.. this bowl of fake noodles. -_-

We ordered a table full of food to share and we all thought the chicken was the best! hehe… I’d be back!

Introducing Stanley… He’s a very very nice senior who is kind, hardworking and very smart, never hesitant to guide me when I’m lost.

Went back that night to a bowl of traditional Tang Yuan. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen these traditional rice balls. But they were yummy!

After wrapping all the Christmas presents, Laisha (my new colleague) and I discovered that we still needed to buy stuff to give to our other colleagues, we headed to Vivo for lunch. After shopping for about 15 minutes and didn’t manage to find anything, we “gave up” temporarily and decided to head for lunch!  Pig 2Pig 2Pig 2

We settled for “Dian Xiao Er” and got a seat with this nice awesome view of the sea, that was blocked by this BIG BIG SHIP! I will get one one someday, when I get a girl-friend for a romantic getaway.  Rose

Good ole-white plates. I somehow enjoy taking pictures of the plate display each time I visit a restaurant. Weird ~

This is Lai Sha! Cute? Keep your comments comings at the bottom of the post!  Nerd

It is such a small world; in her previous job, we were somehow involved in the same project, but from different perspective: she was from the provider end and I was from the customer end, but we never met. But… We had someone to “talk” about… hahaha…

My favorite sambal fried rice. Yummy!!!

Lai sha ordered this melon soup which smelled very nice….

See.. Laisha is so nice, scooping soup for me…  Bunny

Wah.. She gave me so much liao (aka Ingredients)

My favorite “Do Po Rou”, a must have every time I visit Dian Xiao Er…

Awww… Look at that? How can one resist? Yah. This is pork, and I don’t think it’s halal.

Laisha’s must have. I am having this for the first time and it is kinda nice!

After the meal, we continued our shopping and I managed to get a gift for Tuesday’s gift-exchange! yay! Follow the post on Tuesday to find out what it is!

We’re going to this Jap place for Christmas dinner and some Sake!
