Starting today, DBS and POSB customers can exchange for new and good-as-new notes at over 90 DBS/POSB branches in preparation for the Lunar New Year. For greater customer convenience, branches will also extend operating hours a few days prior to the Lunar New Year. In addition, customers will have the option of exchanging pre-packed new notes at six SingPost branches.
At DBS/POSB branches, close to 200 ambassadors will be activated to help facilitate notes exchange and to share more about the “good-as-new” $2 notes with customers. The God of Fortune will also make his appearances at selected branches to celebrate the festive season with customers.
To further spread festive joy, DBS/POSB is doubling its prize money from S$100,000 to S$200,000 for the Great Singapore ATM Card Upgrade’s bimonthly draw for this period. Card members who upgrade to chip cards before 28 February will be eligible for the double bonus draw. Other than chip ATM cards, customers can also sign up for chip debit cards such as the new all-in-one PAssion POSB Debit Card to enjoy greater convenience.
Customers exchanging notes at both DBS/POSB and SingPost branches will receive a set of either DBS or POSB red packets. The DBS and POSB red packet designs are a continuation of the popular Children of Asia’s theme that started in 2007.
The DBS red packet designs feature the boy and girl greeting the new year with auspicious sayings. The back of the red packet sports a colourful fabrics of Asia design, celebrating the region’s diversity. In 2013, the boy and girl have donned various ethic costumes in celebration of major ethnic holidays such as Deepavali and Hari Raya in Singapore.
The POSB red packet features the POSB mascot Smiley celebrating the Lunar New Year with generations of Singaporeans.
This year, customers can also look forward to customising their red packets with auspicious red packet seals. They can also send a mobile/online Lunar New Year greeting to their family and friends by scanning the QR code on the back of the red packets or visit http://dbs.com/ecard/cny.mp4.
Jeremy Soo, Managing Director and Head of Consumer Banking Group Singapore, DBS Bank, said, “Other than offering the usual festive delights, we wanted to strengthen community bonds and to engage our customers on innovative platforms. Hence, we created a Lunar New Year mobile greeting for customers to send to their family and friends as well as a social campaign that serves as a conversation starter at gatherings.”
The bank has also introduced more ways for customers to save during this festive period. Customers can use their DBS/POSB cards or refer to the DBS Indulge mobile application to enjoy savings on online groceries, festive gifts and even spring cleaning.
Every new POSBkids Account opened online from 20 January to 28 February will receive a red packet with value of up to S$28. As part of the bank’s social campaign, uGoiGo, customers will receive higher value red packets with more new accounts signed up this period.
Customers can also get a headstart on savings with the new eMySavings Account 2014, which features an interest rate of up to 2.014% p.a..
Notes exchange service will be available at DBS and POSB branches till 30 January. From 27 January to 29 January, all branches, except for in-mall branches and non-cash transaction branches, will also extend operating hours by one hour to facilitate last minute new notes exchange.
